Dolphy in Markova: The Comfort Gay
With my computer acting up strange lately I am not able to continue designing themes and update all of my blogs daily. I have became busy too with other things, these past few days as becoming bored and my computer always off than on. I spend my days cooking or watching movies online when my computer is not too hot, I carefully choose where to watch because there are times that my browser crashed and I have to repeat the movie from the start and instead of enjoyment its stressing.
One of the latest movie I have watched which is just today is Markova: The Comfort Gay starred by Dolphy the comedy king who just passed away yesterday because of multiple organ failure secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure.
It was a very saddening news to every Filipinos, Dolphy is a house hold name. I first remember watching him on TV on my uncle’s small television, I think ipad is bigger than their old colored TV where few of my cousins told me that Dolphy is my uncle’s favorite actor that’s why sometimes he imitates him so I am sure he is also sad about the passing of the great comedy icon.
By the way Markova: The Comfort Gay tells about the true story of Walter Dempster, Jr, known as Markova. He open his life after watching a documentary about the comfort woman who suffered into forced prostitution during the Japanese era in the Philippines, Markova decides to tell his own painful story to reporter Loren Legarda. Escaping the torment of growing up with an abusive older brother, he and his friends found further suffering at the hands of Japanese soldiers, forced into sex work to survive.
Dolphy plays the role very well together with his two sons who played the younger Markova. It was a great movie directed by Gil Portes.
Goodnight Mr. Dolphy, thank you for the laughter and fun. May you rest in angels wings!
On Watching TV Shows
There are times that I have thought that some local TV shows are not that good. They are making the viewers stupid, I guess most of this TV show need their creative team to be more creative and not just plain stupidity. Like one of the TV show I have watched the other day, it is very unbelievable that people would react that way against a not good looking person. Hello??? With the world today racism is the most hated word so it is really stupidity that local people would react that way, there are more other stupidity among TV shows which is already forgotten simply because I stop watching those shows.
What is good though watching TV shows while on travel is entertaining no matter how based it is that’s why most long journey buses has TV on them to ease the boredom of the passengers.
